Happy Birthday Mr. Verne!

Today, February 8th, 2011, marks the 183rd birthday of one Jules Verne, renowned author, forefather of science fiction, eerily-on-point technological prophet and the source of two noteable Asylum flicks, 30,000 Leagues Beneath the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth

Without Mr. Verne, the notion of giant squid attacking man might never have entered the social consciousness, let alone the notion of a world inside the world or giant crab monsters.

So hats off, Monsieur Verne, for close to two centuries of challenging our notions of the possible! Happy Birthday, and bring on The Asylum remake of Valley of the Dragons!

  1. Hurray for Jules Verne! His stuff is wonderful and still very readable, provided it's been... you know... translated.
