Well, due to a recent legal decision, Age of the Hobbits, set to be released tomorrow, has been officially postponed. This doesn't mean scratched, only that it will be a couple of months before the general public can see it, and then it will be under another, as yet undetermined name. This is a big shame, because not only is the film quite good, other than its title it bears no resemblance whatsoever to Jackson's latest Tolkien flick. Fret not, though, as I said, this does not mean the film will never be seen, only that it won't be seen tomorrow. Trust me, it's worth the wait.
This irks me. It's a DVD release. The Hobbit is theatrical. Someone who rents or buys this expecting Peter Jackson's film shouldn't expect any sympathy from me.
ReplyDeleteI agree wholeheartedly with Steve. This just seems petty.
ReplyDeleteHave they not learned the lessons of AMERICAN WARSHIPS, 3 MUSKETEERS, and PRINCESS of MARS? The more the Big Boxes bitch, the more free publicity the Asylum movies get. Not only that, but those last three Big Box movies were dismal flops. Are they so afraid of their trilogy being the next flop that they have to whine about a low-budget direct-to-DVD?
ReplyDeleteOh, and for the record, PRINCESS of MARS was done years before the Disney product, so in this case JOHN CARTER was the mockbuster!!!
Hm. That explains why Amazon had to cancel my Blu-Ray order. Ah well.
ReplyDeletePerhaps they can re-title it: Age of the Snurfs
Funny thing is, it STILL got released after. One of my friends saw copies of it at Wal-Mart and snapped some photos for proof, and he was even kind enough to pick me up a copy and will be sending that to me as a Christmas present, lol
