ReplyDeleteI'm actually disappointed that much like director Leigh Scott, she's pretty much dropped off the face of Asylum ever since 2007. I'd love to see her make an Asylum come-back in a future movie, but I know those chances are slim to none.
i too have noticed the abrupt shift in things over at the Asylum in 2007, the same year founding partner Sherri Strain seems to have left as well. a division of camps? who knows. oh, and rest assured, just last night i had the arduous task of selecting and eliza swenson photo for volume 2...
ReplyDeleteYeah, and when Sherri Strain left I noticed she took some of the movies with her, such as Frankenstein Reborn, Beast of Bray Road, and the one that was a mockbuster of When A Stranger Calls (Name escapes me). I'm really curious to know what happened there.
ReplyDeleteHey, there's an idea for the next Award-winning movie! We just had a movie about the story behind Facebook...next year we can have the movie about the story behind Asylum! Covering up to, and including, that mysterious split in 2007.
I'd pay to see that.
Quite perceptive of you guys. I'm not sure anyone would actually pay to see that movie, but I'd make it as a form of therapy.
ReplyDeleteIt is a long, complex tale, but one that is ultimately friendly and worked out for the best. More interesting is the impact that the Asylum has had on the industry as a whole and the new companies born out of the great 2007 schism.
that can be the nice thing about schisms: new shards that come from the splintering...if any readers want great examples of new films featuring the talents of Asylum's "old guard," check out Cyborg Conquest(DVD now), Wolvesbayne(DVD now), House of Bones(DVD now), The Dunwich Horror (check SyFy), Monsterwolf (ditto), Quantum Apocalypse (DVD soon), Swamp Shark and Maskerade(ditto and ditto). The truly committed care not for sides, they simply support!
ReplyDeleteWell it's nice to get confirmation on what happened. Or at least the fact that something did happen. While I haven't yet checked out Wolvesbayne, Cyborg Conquest, or Quantum Apocalypse, I was aware that they're made by post-Asylum talent, so I've always been meaning to check those out.

ReplyDeleteSarah Lieving also starred in Monster: small omission & I hate to be pedantic (OK, that's a lie) but you have to admit she and Erin O'Sullivan worked hard in that film.
